The School Day

The Head of School greets parents and children at 8.45am each day. When the first bell rings at 8.50am, the children line up in their respective classes in the playground and are collected by their class teacher. This gives parents the opportunity of speaking to their child’s teacher, and ensures that the children enter school in an orderly way. Children entering the school premises after that time must enter school through the Main Office and will be recorded as late. We take punctuality very seriously and monitor it closely across the school.

For Years 1, 3 and 5 there is a breakfast break in the morning at 10.20am followed by a playtime break at 10.30am – 10.40am. The children then work until lunchtime at 12.00pm. Lunchtime lasts from 12.00pm to 12.45pm.

For Years 2, 4 and 6 there is a breakfast break at 10.20 – 10.30am. There is also a playtime break from 11:30am to 11.45am. The children then work until lunchtime at 12:45pm. Lunchtime lasts  from 12.45pm to 1.30pm.

There is a short afternoon break for pupils in Early Years and Key Stage 1. There is no afternoon break for KS2.

School finishes at 3.30pm.

Lunchtime Clubs

At Red Lane we organise several lunchtime clubs – activities vary from term to term and may include computer club, reading club, homework club and art club. Leisure Time Mentors work over the lunch time period, organising activities and supporting the kitchen staff.
